From the moment my kids started elementary school i've been slowly transforming it one corner at a time! Below are several spaces i've redesigned.
This multi purpose composite deck and new mural (I also designed) is part of the kindergarten yard. Affectionately named 'Leah's Garden' it is dedicated to a mom who passed unexpectedly. The space continues to evolve with new plantings and activities.
The space pictured below used to be just a patch of concrete with a planter on top. After much concrete removal, the DG filled space serves as a snack and gathering area for classes. The raised bed holds vegetables and the surrounding plants are natives and butterfly attracting plants. We integrate this space with our school's Growing Great garden program.
The center space of the school has been completely redone with new grass, pavers and benches. Old plants, failing turf and poor drainage have made way for new child friendly gathering spaces and grasses to soften the edges.
